The Huddell as she appears now

Since posting about the last liberty ship departing the National Defense Reserve Fleet, I’ve received a number of comments concerning the vessel, the ARTHUR M. HUDDELL. There are certainly lots of people searching the internet for tidbits of information on this proud ship. I’m pleased to post what are probably the most current photos available of the HUDDELL. They were taken by a reader named Scott on Thursday, August 14th, in Norfolk VA. They show the HUDDELL moored, most likely undergoing hazmat removal before being transfered out of the country. EPA regulations usually require all asbestos and other hazardous materials be removed prior to selling or transferring ownership of large vessels. Thanks for the photos Scott, and enjoy!
