USS McFaul anchored near Batumi Georgia.

It appears the arrival of the USS McFaul in Georgia has occured without incident.  Russian naval vessels did not make any encounters with the U.S. guided missile destroyer.  In fact, Russia ordered its largest warship, the MOSKVA to return to  Sevastopol.   Reports do indicate however, part of the Black Sea Fleet remains deployed to the Georgian port of Poti, where Russian forces continue to exert control over the port.

Further research into the activities of the Russian Black Sea fleet and the Georgian conflict revealed that a fairly significant ”skirmish” occured between the Slava class ruiser MOSKVA and the Georgian Navy.  A report indicates there were 4 Georgian Naval vessels involved, in which 1 Georgian vessel was sunk, and the MOSKVA lightly damaged by gunfire.

Spotters watching the return of the MOSKVA in Sevastpool reported seeing no apparent damage on the MOSVKA.

Interesting reading without a doubt, and likely one of the most significant actual naval battles in some time.
