Interestingly, the house is situated slightly forward of amidships.  The EMMA MAERSK, was previously considered the world’s largest container ship, however the launch of the the MSC DANIELA in 2008 and now the MSC DANIT beats the Emma in TEUs.  Emma Maersk only carries a measly 11,000 TEUs, versus 14,028.   Emma does however retain the title as the world’s longest container ship at 397 M/1300 FT LOA.  Advances in ship design, and the forward deck house have allowed the Danit and Daniela to surpass the Emma Maersk in capacity without adding greater length.

It is expected to be sailing the company’s Far East/Med Jade route.

The world’s largest container vessel, MSC Danit, docks at China’s northern Tianjin Port yesterday. The vessel, 365 meters long and 51.2 meters wide, has a designed capacity of 14,028 TEUs (20-foot equivalent units).
