Type 920 Hospital Ship

China’s newest Hospital Ship in many years has completed construction. This modern ship is more comparable to the two large hospital ships that the U.S. operates, the USNS Mercy and the USNS Comfort. There are few details on the ship itself, a few photos floating about the net, but it is apparently unarmed, and carries a crew and medical support staff similar to the U.S. ships. It will be interesting to see if China utilizes the ship in a similar manner to the U.S. as a disaster relief/foreign aid resource for other countries when it is not being actively utilized by China itself.
