Ella J

The St. Vincent & Grenadines flagged cargo ship Ella J demonstrates the time tested theory that ships do not react well with land.  In this case, the Ella J apparently developed a technical problem in clear weather resulting in the ship striking a concrete quayside wall at Yenikoy on Thursday.

Watch the video of the listing ship as it hits the quay wall.

No injuries resulted from the accident, but the pictures clearly show that the ship and pier sustained some damage.  Cargo at the time was listed as logs.  The cause of the accident was reportedly a jammed rudder.  It is interesting watching the video and seeing the listing of the ship, possibly due to dragging the anchor at a high rate of speed.
