Here’s something we came across at Disleduck’s site – some incredible infographics depicting the cost and impact of modern day piracy. These were created by the site TravelInsurance.org and provide a good visual on the problem the world faces as modern day piracy continues to exist. For more on the effort to campaign for an end to piracy on the high seas, we recommend you check out SaveOurSeafarers.

Dear Nathan,
A beautifull layout of a big problem. Fortunately I never sailed in these areas. You might also think what the underlaying causes are of this piracy. Countries totally crashed by the afterglow of colonialism. Corruption of governments which are being helped by aid programs set up by the Western world etcetera…
Anyhow I just returned from a voyage of 8 months on an engineless squarerigger around the Atlantic ocean. On this trip I made a modern day pirate map as well. You can find this at http://www.captainjohn.info
Very truly yours,
