Welcome to The Maritime.  My name is Nathan Menefee, founder of The Maritime.  I’ve found that I have developed a thirst for finding interesting news and photos from the maritime world. As a LT in the U.S. Coast Guard and a graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, the topics I present are that of my life and my work. I have an unlimited Third Mate’s license, a Qualified Member of the Engine Department (QMED) endorsement, and a Tankerman Dangerous Liquid Person In Charge (PIC DL) endorsement.  I’ve sailed aboard a variety of ships from container ships, to a tanker, oiler and Coast Guard cutter.  This is my dabble in attempting to consolidate and share what I find for those who may also possess a similar thirst for adventure…stories…and news from the oceans of the world.
