USS Horne departing

The decomissioned U.S. Navy guided missle cruiser USS Horne will be departing San Francisco for the last time tomorrow.   It appears the USS Horne is headed for the bottom of the Pacific, somewhere off Hawaii, to be sunk by her very own U.S. Armed Forces as part of an exercise.  More info on this fine [...]

ExxonMobile gets generous break

DNV proposes speed limits to curb emissions

The classification society DNV’s maritime chief has proposed imposing speed limits on the world’s merchant fleets as a better solution to curbing emissions than carbon credit trading.  He does point out that he favors a voluntary program versus a mandatory regulation to impose speed limits.   More info can be found at the Lloyds List site.  [...]
