In a demonstration of superb tactical execution, France found what seems to be another rare case of success in the battle against piracy yesterday. While thwarting an attack in progress on a Liberian flagged cargo ship Safmarine Asia, the french frigate Nivose decided to follow the pirates that initiated the attack back to a “mother ship” where they were able to arrest 11 pirates, one of the largest interdictions in quite some time.

I had to look through this several times, and still don’t believe what I see. Take it with a grain of salt, as the original story comes from China. I thought I’d post it here anyways, as it is certainly interesting, and if true, absolutely amazing. Because we don’t even see the dolphins and the suspected pirates in the same photo, I wonder how true this story is.

This time it was the U.S. flagged Liberty Sun, a geared bulk cargo ship operated by Liberty Maritime and crewed by U.S. mariners.  Details are sketchy at this point but Information Dissemination is reporting the attack apparently failed, and all aboard are safe.  CNN is also carrying the story.  The ship was carrying humanitarian aid [...]
